I have ended any relationship I may have had with these people. I’ll take the high road and leave it at that for now.

Sorry to hear you had to end your relationship with them. You were definitely a staunch support and took a lot of flak on their behalf.
A little part of me hopes that if they use your recipes, they are successful.

Recipes are only 10% of a good beer in my estimation, the rest of it is process. One can't survive without the other though. Put imagination and skill together and then you are talking. Throw in a bit of vision and focus, and you have great beers that will sell themselves. I get it.
Don't forget passion for the craft, which you have tons of!

Quite a sizable building they have going up down there, beside the Port Pub.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Yeah - should be interesting at the Port Pub once Wayfarer's start producing. See if SL's share on the beer list diminishes.mr x wrote:Quite a sizable building they have going up down there, beside the Port Pub.

Re: Wayfarer's Ale - Thread not started by GRock (See OP)
Tried each of their three current offerings today. Had the Thistle Dew Scottish Ale at La Torta for lunch. Very nice, grainy, malty yet crisp ale. Tried both the blonde and Irish red at the brewery. The blonde was OK, nothing special, nothing wrong, but would be a great bridge for folks who don't like craft beer. The Irish red was good, no real flaws. I ended up filling my growler with the Scottish Ale, seemed like a good fit for a warm summer day. And, they do fill other clean growlers, but would prefer if you had the standard wide mouth variety, vs the long skinny neck variety for ease of filling.
EDIT: I have to change my comments on Thistle Dew after trying the growler I got at the brewery. The growler fill was much darker than what I was served at La Torta, and had a lot more residual sweetness, and more body / mouthfeel. While still a good brew, Thistle Dew wasn't what I was looking for on a hot summer afternoon. Im not really sure what they served me at La Torta, but it wants same beer as Thistle Dew from the Brewery. I suspect that La Torta served something from Meander, based on what I remember from the tap list that day. Unfortunate, but I'm sure I'm not the first, or last to be served the incorrect brew. Should have trusted my initial instinct that said it wasn't a Scottish Ale.

My wife and I stopped in to the brewery this weekend on a whim. I didn't have any growlers with me (and didn't feel like buying yet another) so I didn't buy beer, but they did give us free tap tastings of all three beers. My impression was that they were all well-made beers. They were pretty standard/tame as far as craft beer goes, but like LeafMan said, they'll be a great bridge for the new-to-craft drinker. My wife (who is not a big beer drinker) certainly appreciated them. While I wouldn't go out of my way to buy their beer, I would certainly have no problem drinking it on the regular.
I also poked my head into the brewery side of things. Very impressive! They certainly have some money backing this project.

Have to chime in myself on the Scottish. I had a sample at La Torta and found it missing the peat and felt something wasn't right. Will try again to get some from the brewery. Possibly wasn't the right beer. On a side note gotta say the brewery has some nice stuff in it that's for sure.
